Live! Classic Main (Day 1B): Out Of Nowhere

Terry Saad Bags The Bonus

It seemed as if the race to bag the Day 1B chip lead was between Richard Smith and Joseph Stiers, who were both hovering around 130,000.  Smith had about 135,000 and was done with hands for the night, while Stiers had one more remaining (and about 120,000).  Stiers limped into his last pot, and watched as Hakima Muhammed shoved all-in.  The action folded back to Stiers, and he had a decision which could potentially be worth $10,000.  Stiers ended up folding, giving up that chance, and seemingly locking up the bonus for Smith.

Little did both players know that Terry Saad (who had won a sizable late in Level 9) was even one to mention in the running.  When all the chips were counted and verified, Saad had Smith beat out buy only 400 chips!!! Saad would get the bonus and come into Day 2 third in chips behind Day 1A chip leader Charles Welch, and Kyle Bowker.
